Risk Of Low Blood Pressure. |
|||||||||
| In most cases low blood presure is considered as a sign of good health.
This is so because in cases of high blood pressure there is more presure on
the heart and on the circulatory system as a whole. Hence those who have low
blood pressure usually have a lower risk of kidney diseases, heart diseases
and stroke. However this is not true for all cases. Like high blood presure,
low blood pressure has its risks and complications. As a result of very low blood presure the vital organs such as the brain and the heart may not receive the necessary amount of blood. This may cause the malfunction of these organs and this may lead to their permanent damage. A person with low blood pressure may even experience blackouts due to the lack of oxygen in the body. Low blood presure may result in life-threatening situation like shock, dehydration, heart attack, advanced diabetes or anaphylaxia. However low blood pressure does not cause these conditions, it is sometimes their first symptom. A person is diagnosed with low blood presure when his blood pressure is below normal i.e. below 90/60. However physicians usually do not diagnose one with low blood presure unless he is showing any symptoms or is having problems associated with low blood pressure. Dizziness, feeling light-headed and fainting without a reason are the usual symptoms. Since low blood presure is often a result of other health problems, the underlying cause is usually attended to first.
