Causes Of Low Blood Preassure.

Conditions that result in the reduction of the volume of blood, the reduction of the amount of blood pumped out by the heart and medication are common causes of low blood pressure. It is the opposite of hypertension.

Pregnancy causes low blood presure as one unit of blood is spilt into two to keep both mother and child going. Individuals suffering from diarrhea often have dehydration as a large amount of water is lost through their stool. Dehydration is often associated with vomiting, nausea, and sweating. The lack of water causes a decrease of the volume of blood resulting in low blood pressure. If case a particular individual suffers from moderate or severe bleeding due to an accident or surgery, it can result in lowering of the presure of blood. This is due to the decrease of the volume of blood in the body. Weakening of the heart muscles may cause a heart failure and a reduction in the volume of blood it pumps. The heart is often weakened due to a massive heart attack or a series of smaller attacks.

The heart can also be weakened due to medications that are toxic to the heart, viral heat infections or diseases of the valves of the heart. Slow heart rate or an abnormally fast heart rate also leads a decrease of blood preassure. Some forms of medication cause low blood presure. Calcium channel blockers, beta blockers and digoxin cause a decrease in heart rate. Diuretics often cause a decrease in blood volume as they cause excessive urination.
